2020 STATE Candidate 2.0 Resume Instructions
This is your opportunity to demonstrate to the state judges why they should consider you for state title. You may list as many or as few items under each category as you desire. Your only restriction is that it must follow the established format and it must fit on two (2) pages. The resume, combined with the Social Impact Statement, will comprise your entire application for this job. The judges will receive exactly what is submitted. Any item incorrectly submitted that does not fit the established criteria may be submitted to the judges without an opportunity to correct. Be sure to double check your work.
PLEASE NOTE: These are instructions for the STATE resume. Local resumes may not require all of the questions answered below, as the local resume may be limited to one page. Be sure to check with your local director.
INSTRUCTIONS and FORMAT INFORMATION
- Use the image below as a guide to fill in information with the headers. Formatting should remain: 1" margins on all four sides. Font: Times New Roman between 10 and 12 point type. Standard headers listed below should remain bolded and text following should be plain text.
- Name: Your name as you wish the judges to know it. For example: If your full name is Mary Deborah Smith and you want to be known as “Deborah Smith,” type “Deborah Smith.”
- Title: Your Local title.
- Hometown: Your hometown including the city and the state.
- Date of Birth: Your month, day, and year of your birth. (Ex. October 10, 1994)
- Education: List your most recent school first. If it is grad school, indicate it as such. List degree seeking (all on the same line as the name of the school), on the next line, list your undergraduate school and degree sought/achieved, and below that your high school.
- Social Impact Statement Title: Make sure it matches the title on your Social Impact page.
- Scholastic/Career Ambition: List the type of degree/education you would ultimately like to achieve and beneath that, list your career ambition.
- Talent: List the type of talent and specific selection. (i.e. Pop Vocal - “Crying”, Tap Dance - “Staying Alive”, etc.)
- List information in paragraph form for the following headers as shown in the sample: Scholastic Honors:, Leadership Roles:, Accomplishments:, Interesting Facts:, Employment:
- Provide a short answer for each of the essay questions. Use your best judgment on what is most important for the judges to know about you.
- The entire form must fit on two (2) pages using the Times New Roman font style/size listed above.
